Originally from Vichy, Fatoumata arrived in Paris in 2012. Between a few odd jobs here and there, then some time spent in artisanal couture at the large houses and showrooms, the desire to create her own line became more and more urgent. “The world of high fashion is not an easy environment. You have to know how to DUST OFF the critics, to not take everything personally or to heart. However, it’s a great school to learn humility, to gain experience, to figure out how a fashion house functions and to understand the identity of a brand.” Strengthened by her experience, in 2015, Fatoumata launched Gueras Fatim, a ready-to-wear high-end line which mixes african and eastern influences.

Elegance, femininity and effortlessness are the first words which come to mind when looking at the Gueras Fatim lookbooks. To Guirassy, the line speaks to women “who draw strength from their history, their ancestors, their spirituality and more generally from their philosophies of life.” An invitation to take a journey with the designer, the last collection “Tilocoto” took inspiration from Jamaica, Ethiopia and even Japan. She believes the collection proposes a “nonchalant seduction”. A detectable allure within the selection of materials, noble and ranging between silks, lace, gingham, jersey and organza. It’s a nonchalance assertion through the silhouettes: loose, large et streetwear for certain pieces.
